You usually need a bachelor degree in accounting to work as an External Auditor. Training is also available through VET (Vocational Education and Training).
Registration with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission is needed to work as an External Auditor. In order to gain registration you may need to complete competency standards through the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICCA) or the Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA).
